Michigan Worker's Compensation law is "non-fault" in nature. You can recover benefits for work injuries, or for activities, which cause or aggravate disabling medical conditions from your employer's insurance company even if the injury is not the fault of your employer. Worker's Compensation benefits are potentially lifelong in nature and cash settlements for many cases can be substantial.

You can recover three types of Worker's Compensation benefits under Michigan law:

• Wage loss benefits
• Medical benefits
• Rehabilitation benefits (both medical and vocational) 

There is no requirement that you have a specific event or accident at work to recover benefits.  In other words you can recover benefits if the nature of the work activities causes or contributes to a disabling medical condition.  In certain cases you can recover vocational rehabilitation services (such as job placement and retraining).  This could mean your employer or their insurance company would provide these services.
